Life In Black Ink
Life in Black Ink is a body of work that documents Black life through pen and ink illustration, capturing memory, community, and everyday experience. Drawing from family photographs, cultural icons, and overlooked moments, the collection uses expressive line work to build texture, depth, and emotion. By removing color, the focus shifts to gesture, presence, and meaning, allowing each drawing to preserve Black stories with honesty, care, and intention.
The collection moves between the personal and the collective, highlighting youth, elders, love, mentorship, spirituality, and cultural spaces that shape lived experience. Each piece functions as both documentation and reflection, honoring moments that are felt as much as they are seen. Together, the works form a visual archive that centers Black life as worthy of preservation, remembrance, and legacy.
